Well Done

A big thank you to all who participated in the Riparian Redeemers work party. We planted native plants after the more invasive ones were taken out. We also mulched around them to keep them safe. There were jokes and laughter to be heard around each group hard at work. We gathered for a song afterwords and please enjoy some pictures below.

Work Party

Are you looking for a chance to help the local wetlands? The Riparian Redeemers are asking Wesley for student volunteers to make up a work party. On Saturday January 15th from 10-12, hot drinks and snacks will be provided.

In their own words "We've worked at eradicating non-native plants in a forest along the stream there, planting native plants, mending trails and clearing debris. Our work has taken us from a grassy knoll with very old oaks as we try to save their little off-spring from mowing and overgrowth by blackberries by mulching and watering, to the little lake region where we cut down trees that choke the undergrowth and plant grasses in the low areas. Because of our work, the Western Pond turtle is returning, along with some otter. Needless to say, restoring the native landscape allows native wildlife to flourish."

If you are interested please sign up with Leslie by emailing her at peaceuofo@yahoo.com
Carpooling can be worked out as well.
